I thought I'd share this adorable video of Nathalie to cheer you up. That includes you, sister!

Shots...
Emily and Nathalie had their Dr.'s appointment. Here are the stats:
Emily
29 1/2 lbs
33 inches
Nathalie
16 1/2 lbs
25 inches
They both got shots, and Nathalie did better with her 4 than Emily did with her 1. We got an ice cream afterward as a treat for doing shots. And I think it's pretty amazing that Nathalie has already doubled her birth weight....at 4 months.

Bird, come here!
Conversation during last night's walk:
Emily: "Bird, come here! I need to hold you!"
Conversation this morning while Emily looked out my window:
Emily: "Bird, come here! I want to give you loves! I need to hold you!"

Cupcakes, cupcakes
The Princess turns 2!!!!
Annivesary continued....
Sorry, the last post I wrote about our anniversary was lame (yes, I know) because I had approximately .2 seconds for blogging. So here's a better post, mostly because I'm BRAGGING.
The Volvo died. Kaput. Crash. Boom. Cough. Wheeze. Shudder. Death. So after looking a lot we got a new car. It's pretty awesome and we love it. Granted, it's a little small for our family but who cares about the kids? Here's a picture of our new car.
Sweet, I know.
Okay, so that's not actually our new car. I WISH. But we did get a great little car. It's 9 years old, 80k and has only had one owner. Drumroll please....

We got it for a good deal and even though it's a little tight in there, Matt and I plan on getting a van in a couple of years and this will become Matt's car. We really like it and the best part is that it gets 30mpg.
So that's what we "gave" each other for our anniversary. We also went on a great walk, by ourselves, watched Harry Potter and ate ice cream. It was a pretty good anniversary in my opinion.

I have 17 misquito bites on my feet alone.
Matt's family had a campout last weekend, sort of an end-of-summer fling. 4 days of tenting it. To be honest, it wasn't the best camping experience I've ever had. But it definitely wasn't the worst either; it falls somewhere in the "that was decent, but not comfortable" category. The food was wonderful and the company was wonderful. And you know how you never sleep as well at home as you do camping? Well, except for the first night (getting to that later), we actually slept pretty well. The cicadas make a good noise buffer.
There were a couple of things that made the experience less than amazing. 1) Emily fell. And hurt her lip bigtime. Her list of wounds include: creating a big hole inside her lower lip. Her teeth actually going through her bottom lip in one spot, and almost going through the rest of her lip but we were lucky and they didn't. Ripping off the skin between her two upper front teeth and knocking her two upper front teeth so that they might actually fall out; we'll see. It was pitiful. She had a horrible time and cried most of the weekend. I can't really blame her.
2)Sleep. The first night, after Emily fell, Matt and I switched sleeping about 5 times, Emily woke up, one air mattress deflated and we got about 3hours of sleep. Yeah.
3)Hot. And misquitos.
4)The lake had an advisory on it from an algae bloom, so it was scummy and you went swimming at your own risk. We didn't take Emily.
All in all, we're planning a campout for next year and we will definitely have a better time, since we can improve some things. But we loved being with family and it was fun all around.
Emily's lip the day we left, so 3 days after she fell. It's healing wonderfully and even in this picture, you can see the swelling has significantly gone down.
The oldest people there, Matt's grandparents and the youngest person there, Nathalie.
"Please Mom, I'm not wearing any makeup."
Emily's swollen lip. What you can't see in this picture is the huge HOLE on the inside of her lip from where she bit down. Her teeth actually came through the lip in one spot, but it was little enough that she didn't have to go the ER. It broke my heart when she would smile her lopsided, swollen smile or look at me and say, "It hurts. Emmy mouth hurts." This picture was taken about 18 hours after the accident.

A year ago today...
we were sleeping in our tent somewhere in Nebraska. We left Provo in the morning, drove ALL DAY LONG and pitched our tent right as the sun was going down. As I was reminiscing over the last year, I happened to look through my journal and found an entry I wrote as we were driving. Here are some of the things we sighted/experienced on our journey across the country.
---Matt was the driver. I was the map reader. As I was watching the roadsigns, we came across one that said Sidney, Ne 100 miles. I looked on my map but couldn't find a city named Sidney, Ne in Wyoming. I mentioned this to Matt and he didn't say anything. About 1 1/2 hours later, as we crossed the border into Nebraska, I noticed we were approaching a town named Sidney. And it all came together for me. You would THINK that state abbreviations would be capitalized. But no.
---Saw a sign in Kansas that said, "Smile, your mother chose life!"
---At a little town in Nebraska, we saw a museum. It was the "National Midget Auto Racing Museum." How awesome is THAT?!!!
--Right before Junction City, KS, we passed by a gas station where we saw a biker filling up his larger cruiser motorcycle. It was such a big bike that he was pulling at 4' trailer. On that trailer he had two suitcases, and a coffin. No, really.
I can hardly believe a year has gone by! We are one year closer to graduation, I have a toddler that talks in full sentences, a new baby (that can roll over now!) and great friends. What a year!

Summer of rain
We have gotten so much rain this summer. Although it's only the beginning of August, our tomatoes are still green (and they've been green for a month). Our strawberries got root rot. Our pumpkin plant is dying. And we haven't been able to play outside as much! So we've been finding other fun outdoor activities, such as this one that Emily is enjoying with her cousins. It means that we go through more outfits everyday, but at least we're playing outside. And honestly, Emily loves it!
Life's a Beach
We haven't spent much time at the beach this summer because of the rain, so yesterday it was 75 degrees and not raining! We packed up the girls and headed to the lake. It was a little chilly, so I didn't get in. Here are some pictures of the event. While Matt did take a picture of me in my swimsuit, I shall spare you the horrors.
Emily in the process of destroying our words in the sand.
