First, before we go into my new obsession, let me tell you about the fair. It was hot. Really, really hot, just like it's been for the past few days. Hot, hot, hot. Should I say it one more time? I'm ready for fall.
Anyway, we went to the fair. We looked at lots of animals. Nathalie's favorite were the chickens. She stopped at every cage and said, "Kike!" She loves chickens. Why? I don't know. But she does. There were some crazy looking chickens too.
Emily liked the animals too. She loved the cows and kept trying to pet one. Her friend, with whom she held hands as they walked around, was pretty nervous about the animals. See how Matt is holding her friend closer? That's because she wanted to back up farther from the cage. However, they had fun and couldn't get enough of all the animals.

Emily also loved the rides. Unforunately my camera died at this point so I have pictures on my phone....but no cable for you to be able to see them. Maybe someday, when we have an extra $20 to blow I will buy a cable and you'll get an overload of phone pictures. Probably not. Anyway, just imagine this little girl on her first "roller-coaster" ever. Her favorite was probably the carousel and she said to me during the ride, "Mommy, this horse is going up and down! I haven't fallen off yet." She was a little confused because she has ridden a horse before and she knew this wasn't a real horse. Weird, but definitely fun.

And now, introducing: MY OBSESSION. I got another 1/2 bushel of peaches last week. I didn't have time to can them until today...so they've been sitting in my fridge, begging to be eaten. I did splurge and set aside 6 for eating (one is already gone). But these peaches are big. They're juicy and firm. They're a beautiful golden and pink. I have been thinking about them all day (that's why I ate one) and so tonight, as my kitchen was filling with the smell of peaches, I was dying.
You know what's better than peaches though? Peach-raspberry jam. Celestial kingdom, here on Earth. I have yet to find a jam better than peach-raspberry, and I'm a bit of a jam snob. Oh my heavens. If you have never tried peach-raspberry jam, it is worth the money to buy a jar. I'm not joking.
So that's been our week. Hot fair, happy little girl (Nathalie was NOT happy when Emily went on rides and she couldn't. She cried and cried.) Beautiful rain today, crickets outside, children asleep and a house smelling of peaches.
It doesn't get much better than this.
