Diaper Dance Party

In an effort to wear out the kids for bedtime, we had a dance party. Of course, it's always more fun when you're not wearing clothes. Check out their sweet moves! (Sorry it's not the right way....)

Michigan

We went on a trip to Michigan this past weekend to visit my sister-in-law and her girls. It was great! Emily got to see chickens for the first time and was way more interested in their dog. We had a great time with family.

Emily and her cousin Jason. They're both trying to climb onto this little bookshelf at the same time. It didn't work out.

Emily and her cousin Bostynn in the bath. They had a great time except when Bostynn tried to give Emily hugs. Then she'd knock Emily over and land on her.

Emily in her cute, cute, cute! Sunday outfit. It has ladybugs on it, which is good since Emily loves ladybugs right now.

7 Random Things

1. I love winter, but only if there is snow. Cold, cloudy days with no snow are just depressing.

2. I love to clean and be organized. And anyone who's ever been over to my house can attest to the fact that my home is always clean. Sometimes it gets little cluttered during the day with Emily's toys and books, but at night, all the clothes are put away, the dishes are done, the toys are organized and the books are back where they belong.

3. I get feisty when I'm pregnant. Matt can tell you that.

4. I love Emily and Matt more than anyone else in the world. My life (happily) revolves around them.

5. I like to exercise and push myself. If it hurts, I feel like I'm doing even better.

6. I CANNOT handle wet socks. Even just stepping on a little drop of water makes me have to change my socks. Matt sometimes drops water on the floor on purpose just so my socks will get wet.

7. I'm a chocaholic. Literally. But I'm attending chocaholics anonymous.

Recipe for Cinnamon Bread

(From allrecipes.com)

INGREDIENTS
2 C all-purpose flour
1 C white sugar
2 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp baking soda
1 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
1 tsp salt
1 C buttermilk
1/4 C vegetable oil
2 eggs
2 tsp vanilla extract

Topping
3 TB brown sugar
1 TB white sugar
2 tsp ground cinnamo
4 tsp margarine or butter, softened

DIRECTIONS
1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease one 9x5 inch loaf pan.

2. In one bowl, combine dry ingredients. Mix well. In another bowl, combine wet ingredients. Mix well. Then combine both bowls together and beat until there are no lumps. Pour half the batter into the bread pan and smooth down with spatula.

3. Combine topping ingredients. Sprinkle half of the topping mixture over smoothed batter.

4. Repeat with the other half of the batter and topping mixture.

4. Bake for about 50 minutes. Test with toothpick. When inserted it should come out clean. Remove bread from pan to rack to cool.

Results
We liked it. It was yummy when warm, but even yummier when it had cooled and the mixture turned into a crust-type of thing. Definitely a keeper!

Baking, anyone?

One of our biggest downfalls during the winter time is that I find time on my hands but I can't go outside. So....I usually bake. Which means that not only does Emily have a horrible sweet tooth like her mom, but we've all gained more weight this winter than we wanted.

I'm also searching for some good sweets recipes that aren't brownies, cookies, cheese cake or anything amazingly rich. I found a good sweet cinnamon bread recipe today, tried it out and am posting it for those of you who have the same dilemma. It's sweet, but also a bread, so I don't feel bad about having two pieces.

So I'm posting the recipe, our results, and pictures of Emily helping Mommy with baking. Luckily this batter was light-colored. What you can see is that she has batter all around her mouth. What you can't see are the drops of it on her clothes as she dipped her pretzels in the bowl!

Finding fun inside

With the cold weather and recent snow, we've been trying to find fun things to do inside. Here are some pictures of a pet store visit where we got to play with a sweet puppy who was just her size. We also built a tent in her room and she was reading books to her baby doll underneath (that's the second pair of feet). And there she is in her special hiding place between the piano and the bookshelf!

It snowed!

In the last two days we've gotten a few inches of snow and a decent coating of ice. So instead of walking Matt to work with the stroller, we walk him to work with the sled! Here are some pictures of our outside fun in the snow.
